Official: Russia can give 20 bln rbl aid to one-factory towns ‘16

MOSCOW, Aug 10 (PRIME) -- A Russian fund can offer 20 billion rubles worth of subsidies to small towns dependent on a single industrial facility in 2016, First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov said at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday.

He said that there are about 319 one-facility towns in Russia and about 100 of them are in a dire socioeconomic situation.

“We are reviewing the most difficult one-factory towns now and understand that the one-factory town fund will decide to give these settlements about 20 billion rubles until the end of the year. This covers 20–25 towns where the situation is direst,” Shuvalov said.

Putin said that the government must take steps to diversify the economy of single facility-dependent settlements. Shuvalov said that the prime minister will define the key criteria of the efficiency of this work soon.
